May I suggest that you contact a nursing home or two that you are impressed with and talk to them - they will have someone on staff that knows the Medicaid rules inside and out. So long as your assets are minimal (you are allowed to have a home and a car and certain other personal assets without limitation) and your income is low, approx $6,000 a month is available to pay for nursing home care. Since the Medicaid is such a large segment of their business, it seems that 90% of the homes out there are well-versed in the procedures and have been very helpful to me. Good luck, weisstho-ga |
