I have searched Cnet and zdnet for software that will convert MIDI
files to .WAV files. None of the few offerings worked. Basically, I
want to convert a MIDI file to a .WAV file because I want to be able
to slow a file down without changing pitch in order to learn it (on
guitar). I have Cakewalk Home Studio 2002 and cannot seem to open a
particular MIDI file in this program. Suggestions?

I have Cakewalk myself. If you can't open it in there, it is possible
that the MIDI file is corupted in some fashion, and could explain why
those other utilities you are trying to use aren't working well. Are
you able to open the MIDI file in any player?

Hi,

I sympathize with your frustration. I went through a similar
experience when converting a large amount of files of old ragtime
music. Rather than bore you with all the details on how I found this
company, just let me say it works, it works easily, is cheap (less
than $15.00 US) and probably one of the few available that works so
well I'd recommend it in a heartbeat.

I tried the trial version (which does NOT give you all the options the
paid version does) and immediately purchased it via the net and rarely
buy anything online. It was more a matter of need than want though.

Here's what it does:
With Midi2Wav Recorder 2.0 you can:
- Convert MIDI files to Wav with one button push
- Record to Wave your singing into microphone with MIDI playback
accompaniment
- Control the record level, register clipping and, control the
record's quality
- Open and play Wave and MIDI files
- For MIDI files -- view the set of instrument in the song, their
volume and pan, and CHANGE all these attributes
- For Wav files -- register the volume and signal level

Here's how to buy it:
"1. You send us the required fee (US $14.95).
 2. In return, we e-mail you a link to downloading the full version.
 3. You download and install the full version (154Kb)."

It's called Midi2wavRecorder and the link is:
http://www.midi2wav.com/

Search Strategy: none... because I had the answer from my own
experience. However I did search the internet for two (2) days trying
to locate this information and was unsuccessful. A kind tech support
person told me about this company during a call to Gateway about a
minor computer issue completely unrelated. I happened to mention I
was looking for miditowav converters, and this is what he told me
would work and it works very well. I highly recommend it! (No, I
don't work for www.midi2wav.com!) :)

I hope this helps you,

Hi mojomo,

I received email notification from Google Answers that you cannot get
to the link provided. I have tested it and it's working fast and
fine. I have emailed Google Answers my results. Hope you can get it
working. This is a valid company and I am sorry you are having a
problem... but the link is working. Here are some email ways to
contact the company:

"Contacts
Our e-mail addresses: contact@midi2wav.com

Program features, bug reports, suggestions on improving the program,
etc. If reporting a bug, please include information about versions of

be of most help.
