I have a .pst file that I want to OPEN in Outlook 2002. I'm not quite
sure what's in this file, but I believe its some kind of backup or
history prior to a computer failure last year. When I try to open the
file I get a Microsoft OUtlook dialogue box that says "The file
C:.... \Personal Folders(9).pst is not compatible with this version of
the Personal Folders information Service. Contact your
Administrator." Please advise.

Sounds to me like it's an older version PST file. For instance, it
could be from Outlook 97 or 98. Alternatively, maybe it's just the
file name that it doesn't like. Try moving the file to something like
right to the root directory of your c drive so that it's name is now
c:\myoutlookfile.pst

Then try to open it from there.

This may help, I know it says 2003 but this also is supposed to work
for 2002 files as well.
