Hi Researchers,
"This reading is pretty good at showing us how things like race,
social class and gender work within a social organization. Based on
the description of the women's KKK which do you think is the most
important in terms of social interaction, i.e. which of the major
social characteristics is the most important in determining how one
behaves socially?"
The reading to which the question refers is an article by Kathleen M.
Blee on the origins, structure, beliefs, ritual and activities of the
Womens KKK. I plan to explore all three social characteristics
mentioned (race, social class and gender), and find some conclusion as
to which is the most important.
1. I would like to know if there are any articles out there I could
use for background reading to support any of these positions that are
particularly relevant to the WKKK.
2. I read a commentary on the Guardian newspaper's website
(www.guardian.co.uk) a few weeks ago saying something about how the
Republicans are using not-particularly-relevant issues like thier
anti-abortion stance to get people to vote for them, when their
economic policy will actually have a greater impact on the voter. I
thought this would work well with the WKKK's policy of recruiting
women using a professed itinerary of improving public education into
an organization whose manifest itinerary is to be racist. The
Guardian's search engine is crap, though, and now I can't find the
article. Please locate it for me.
To be clear, I am not looking for someone to write a paper for me; I
would merely like to be informed of any scholarly opinions that exist
on the web.
Thanks. |
