I currently live in San Diego and am considering a job offer to
Vancouver WA. I have not visited the city yet, but am trying to
gather some info before I decide if I should make the trip.

I know Portland looks like a lot of fun and is fairly close by however
I have to reside in WA for state income tax reasons. And also, the
job is in the northern section of Vancouver.

I am trying to find out if there are many single younger people (late
20's or early 30's) like myself, or is this more of a bedroom
community for families and older folks. Also, is there a more
desirable part of Vancouver for younger single people to rent an
apartment/condo ? Are there many bars/clubs in Vancouver ?

The neighborhoods in Portland seem to be more expensive than
Vancouver, so I am wondering how the two differ. I currently live in the
beach area of San Diego so I am used to alot of people, traffic, crazy
nights out in the town. Portland sounds very cool, but I am worried
Vancouver might be a little too sleepy for me ?

Also, is it cloudy rainy almost everyday, or is it more like 50% ?

Statistics are fine but ideally I would like to get
advice from somebody who has lived in the area. Thanks.!!

There are many young single people in vancouver. It is basically a
suburb of Portland... although, I personally wouldnt live in the
Vouve, because I hate how all the Washington traffic clogs our
freeways. Nevertheless, If you did live in Vancouver, you would
always come to Portland to party. There are many bars in Vancouver,
just none anyone who was anything would attend. If I were you, I
would live in a recently regentrified neighborhood in portland like
North Portland or SE. Some say its the hood, but we dont have a hood
in Portland. Its completely safe everywhere. Its not cloudy and
rainy everyday. Basically cloudy and rainy all fall. Dry in the
winters but cool... although we do get rain throughout the day... just
not like all day long. Springs are light showers and our summers
rock. Generally summers are hot and dry.

Thanks, however I am trying to get feedback from some in Vancouver on
where to live there. I can not live in Oregon due to tax reasons.
