Question ID: 400722
I run a business selling used cars. We finance on the lot.
Occassionally, as one would expect, we have people who dont pay thier
bills. And on even rarer occasion, we have someone who runs off with
the car to another state with no intention on paying thier bills.

Here is the Question.
Where can i find current employment, credit, and any other information
about someone who is default on thier payments?

resources that we already have is:
Name
Address (the one they put on their payment contract)
Phone (same as above)
Employer (same situation)
social security number
Driver's Lisence Number

We have tried contacting previous employers / landlords but with
little luck. when someone moves they are often behind on thier rent
as well and dont leave a forwarding address. it is often a result of
them getting fired/quitting from thier job and so the employers,
although willing, arte usually not helpful.

Is there anywhere online or otherwise that we can track down people's
current employers and/or phone numbers and address

800ussearch.com. You can also open an account to do multiple searches.
As well, you probably could do a credit history check from Equifax,
Transunion and Experion to understand the risk (with applicant
permission, of course).

You may want to consider hiring a skip tracer. These folks specialize
in finding people who have left town to avoid paying debts.

Talk to local landlord/apartment owners/managers in your area. They
have access to databases that you are looking for and could tell you
where and how to get a subscription at reasonable cost.
