Dear denise555,

The song you have in mind does not come from a musical. It was the
B-side of a single Rock'n'Roll pioneer Bill Haley recorded in 1955.

The song was written by Bill Haley himself and Catherine Cafra. Bill
Haley & His Comets then recorded the song, titled "The Paper Boy (On
Main Street, U.S.A.)", on 12 December 1955 in the Decca Studios, New
York City. It was the same recording session that also produced the
single's A-side, the well-known "See You Later, Alligator".

The single "See You Later, Alligator" b/w "The Paper Boy" (Decca
29791) was released in the last days of December 1955. While the
A-side peaked at #6 in the Billboard Charts on 14 January 1956, "The
Paper Boy" failed to chart.

Since the song was a B-side, it is only very rarely found on CDs.
However, it is included in a rather expensive, but very comprehensive
6-CD box set, "Bill Haley & His Comets - The Decca Years", which is
for example available from Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000026ULI/qid%3D1095116179/104-6154234-3043111

As an avid collector of classic Rock'n'Roll, it was a special pleasure
for me to answer this question.

Source of information: The book from the CD box set "Bill Haley & His
Comets - The Decca Years", Bear Family Records, BCD 15506.

Hope this is what you wanted to know!
