a farmer goes to market brings his dog, a goose and some corn. reaches river and needs to cross, he can only take one thing at a time. *the dog can't stay with the goose (he'll eat it) *the goose can't stay with the corn (he'ii eat it) how does he cross the river?? | |

1) take goose to SideB 2) return to SideA empty handed 3) Take the dog to SideB 3) Return to SideA with the Goose 4) Take the corn to SideB 5) Return to SideA empty handed 6) take the goose to SideB |

Another solution: The farmer sits down to think about the problem and munches away on the corn while doing so. Then he remembers his goose is a really excellent swimmer, so he loads the dog in the boat and ties the goose to the front. He climbs in with the remainder of the corn, which he tosses piecemeal in front of the goose to trick it into pulling the boat across the river. --mathtalk-ga |

the farmer cross the river with the goose from A to B then the farmer go back to bring the dog to B then leave the dog at B and bring the goose back to A then leave the goose at A and bring the corn to B and to back to A to bring the goose |
