Hello sinner1969-ga,

A prior Google Answers question from 2002 gives you an excellent
overview of the various techniques for detecting fetal gender. I
conducted additional research to see if there are any recent
developments in the field and discovered that there is a new urine
test that can tell you the gender of the child as early as 10 weeks.
Several companies are working on making this test available to the
general public so you should expect further developments in the field
in the near future. I hope you find this information useful.

All the best.

PARAGON GENETICS
NON-INVASIVE BABY GENDER TEST

Timing for the test
Using our DNA test, a gender determination can be done in most cases
at 10 weeks of gestation. Testing takes 10 business days to complete.

Sensitivity and specificity of the test
Sensitivity and specificity of the detection of male fetuses at 10
weeks of gestation for properly collected maternal blood samples is
more than 96%.

NO MORE AMNIO? NO MORE CVS?
New non-invasive prenatal testing is now available.

Any woman in the second trimester of pregnancy is eligible for the
Paragon Prenatal DNA testing. The test is most effective between the
14 and 22 week of pregnancy.

1) What is the basis of Early Urogender Test?
The urine of a mother carrying a male fetus differs from that of
female one. We evaluate only female fetus. The data from a new sample
is compared with that of a mixed sample representing several women who
have either delivered a female baby or confirmed a female fetus
through amniocentesis or CVS test. Each case is tested two or three
times. If it matches with the mixed sample most of the times, we
become reasonably confident that the fetus is female, and if found
different, the fetus is assumed to be male.

3) How early can you determine the gender?
The gender can be determined as early as 21 days after the date of
missed period. Example: if the first day of missed menstrual date was
July 1st, fetal gender can be known any time after July 22nd (START of
6th week of pregnancy). THE EARLIER THE BETTER.

10) How do you compare it with other procedures?
Currently, fetal sex determination is done by the following
techniques. The relative performance is as follows: (see table)
