Hello.

My neighbors rent their home. We are trying to contact their landlord,
but cannot find his/her home address (I need to send a legal demand
regarding a tree to them). Is there a database of homeowners'
addresses I could reference?

Thanks!

Hi Phil,

I am putting this in as a comment because I tested the Somerville
assessment database and came up with everything but the owner's name.

I believe that once you get the other information in the results like
ownership Book and Page number, account number and the MBLU (Map Block
Lot Unit), you can go to the city assessor's office and look it
up--but that isn't exactly what you wanted.

For Somerville, the assessor's website is:
http://www.ci.somerville.ma.us/departments/assessing/?mypage=4&myName=Assessing

and the searchable assessor's database is:

http://data.visionappraisal.com/somervillema/search.asp

If you put in the street number and the street name, you should
retrieve the information I listed above as well as a picture and
pricing information.

The Assessing Office is located:

Address: City Hall
93 Highland Avenue

Phone: (617) 625-6600 Ext.3100
Email General Questions to: assessing@ci.somerville.ma.us

In addition, you could use databases which cost some money that should
get the result you were looking for.

"KnowX"
http://www.knowx.com

and

"LexisNexis"
http://www.lexis.com are two that come to mind--you would have to
register and use a credit card.

Search Criteria using Google:

somerville assessing OR assessor

If you are happy with this comment as your answer, I can resubmit it for the fee.

Let me know if you need additional information.

It depends on the city or county--many county or city assessors'
offices have searchable databases for property ownership.

For example--Boston is http://www.cityofboston.gov/assessing/search/

If you let me know what town and I will let you know if it is
searchable and I will send you the link.

I hope this helps.

In Pierce County (Tacoma), Washington, I took great joy many months
ago when, just after midnight, the auto body shop a block from my
house had its motion sensor alarm go off, again, for the fourth time
in a week. A quick search at the county assessor's web site -
http://www.co.pierce.wa.us/cfapps/atr/ePIP/search.cfm - and I had the
name of the property owner; a quick Google white pages search and I
had his phone number.

I then walked next to the very loud alarm, and gave him a call, waking
up his wife. The alarm hasn't gone off since.
