If you're looking down at a painted cowboy and a painted fishhook,
straighten up and tell me what gal you might see.

The answer is the Queen.

?This is a poker reference. "Paint" is a poker term for a face card. A
Cowboy is term for a King. A Fishhook is a term for a Jack. In order
to "straighten out" a King and a Jack, you would need a Queen.?

From the Poker Glossary:

Paint: A jack, king, or queen (i.e., a card with a picture on it).

Fishhook: A nickname for a jack.

Cowboy: A nickname for Kings

I also came up with your answer for this question. The anwser seems to
really fit the question. However, I am convinced that it is incorrect.
I have reason to believe that the correct answer has something to do
with the Painted Dessert. I have also found that there is a type of
cactus called a fishhook cactus. The answer will have some direct link
to the old west, geographical, historical, or otherwise. Any
information that you or someone else could provide would be very
helpful.

Perhaps the following information can help.

Cowboy's Fried Egg is a drought-tolerant perennial that grows to about
3' in height with showy 3" white tissue paper like flowers.
