I need a list of all Japanese companies that are publicly traded
in the major U.S. stock exchanges via ADRs (American Depositary
Receipts) or equivalent mechanism. I'd like just the stock symbols,
space-separated by itself please without additional info (format can
be easily copy-pasted into Yahoo Finance). I'm looking for individual
companies only, no ETFs. Thanks!

Thanks for the info! BTW I am very surprised how few of them trade
on the major exchanges! That is, not counting the Pink Sheets and OTCBB.

JP Morgan's ADR.com website allows you to search for ADRs by country,
industry or other criteria.  There are more than 2100 ADRs traded in
the U.S. and about 150 Japanese firms traded as American Depository
Receipts:

The source is different; the format is different; many are the same. 
However, a few are different (look, for example, at the last two in
each list).

I believe that the JP Morgan site is a complete list of ADRs; I can't
speak to the Yahoo list or why quotes are missing for a few of them.

Note too that the ADR.com site will enable you to find all of the
other ADR listed stocks for other countries.  It also has about 5
Japanese firms that I DID NOT list because they're showing as being
available as American Depository Receipts but have no trading symbol,
perhaps indicating either a de-listing or pending listing.

The source I used is the same as Omnivorous-GA, but I updated the list
after noticing some of the symbols on the ADR.com list have been
changed or delisted.

So I did a search by the name of the companies on Yahoo Finance and
found their valid symbols.

After making the ADR list up to date, I formated it as an Yahoo link
and added the proper .PK and .OB suffixes for stocks traded in pink
sheets/over the counter/bulletin board.
