What I need to do is scan barcodes into an html form on a web browser
on a WiFi enabled palm top computer (I have both the Symbol PPT 2746
with Windows CE and the Symbol SPT 1800 with Palm OS). Seems pretty
straight forward, but I've had no luck googling this topic (e.g.,
googling: ____"pocket pc" OR palm "barcode scanning" OR "barcode
scanner" "web browser"____ comes up with nothing of value to me). The
vendors (Symbol, Microsoft, & Palm) have not been of much help either.

If you're not familiar with the palms that have built-in barcode
scanners, the issue is that not all applications on the device
activate the scanner due to battery concerns. If the scanner is not
active, you can't collect data from a barcode. For my needs, I'm not
concerned about the battery. Incidentally, This behavior is different
than a desktop computer with a barcode scanner plugged in (either USB
or PS/2). In that setup, the barcode scanner will scan data into
whatever application is active.

To clarify what I need and what I don't: I need a web browser for any
Palm top OS (Windows CE, Pocket PC, Palm OS) that will enable me to
scan barcode data into an html form. Open source is preferred, but I
don't mind paying for a commercial browser either. I don't need a
barcode/asset tracking application that has been written for one of
these devices. There's a multitude of those available.

Alternatively, if no web browser exists to satisfy that need, if there
is an application that will transmit barcode data via TCP/IP over
WiFi. For instance, it seems Pendragon Forms is close, but from what I
could tell they don't support WiFi, or if they do, you need their
SyncServer product.

Let me know if you need any clarification.
