I found some references listing a possible connection of Effexor and neuropathy:
"ADVERSE REACTIONS"
...
Nervous system --
Frequent: emotional lability, trismus, vertigo;
Infrequent: apathy, ataxia, circumoral paresthesia, CNS stimulation,
euphoria, hallucinations, hostility, hyperesthesia, hyperkinesia,
hypotonia, incoordination, libido increased, manic reaction,
myoclonus, neuralgia, neuropathy,"
from:
Drugs.com
( http://www.drugs.com/PDR/Effexor_Tablets.html )
Another source states neuropathy as an infrequent effect as well:
"Nervous system -
Frequent: amnesia, confusion, depersonalization, emotional lability,
hypesthesia, vertigo;
Infrequent: apathy, ataxia, circumoral paresthesia, CNS stimulation,
euphoria, hallucinations, hostility, hyperesthesia, hyperkinesia,
hypotonia, incoordination, libido increased, manic reaction,
myoclonus, neuralgia, neuropathy"
from:
Effexor Side Effects
( http://www.effexor-xr-side-effects-withdrawal.com/new-fda-effexor-report.html )
Source #3 again talks of infrequent effect:
"Infrequent (less than 1%): apathy, ataxia, CNS stimulation, euphoria,
hostility, hyperaesthesia, circumoral paraesthesia, hyperkinesia,
hypotonia, incoordination, manic reaction, myoclonus, neuralgia,
neuropathy, ..."
from:
Inhouse Pharmacy
( http://www.inhousepharmacy.com/anti-depressants/effexor-information.html )
So we can be quite sure that neuropathy can be an adverse effect of
effexor. As the adverse effect is (in all sources I could find) listed
as "infrequent" it is not very probable, but of course possible.
Again I want to emphasise my recommendation to ask your doctor for
advice, maybe he will prescribe another medicinal drug for your
indication without this undesired effect.
I hope this helps to solve your problem. If anything should still be
unclear please post a clarification request.
