In the liner notes of a classical/opera CD I bought there was a
catalogue listing of a CD of tragic French songs or ballads from the
Belle Epoque. The title was very specific and I have looked on
Amazon.com, France and Canada, also many classical label catalogues
that are online and spent hours researching. Pls help. :)

When you say the title was "very specific," do you mean only that
"Belle Epoque" was part of the CD's title, or do you remember other
specific words from the title, like "tragic."

What I mean by specific is that the title described the contents of
the CD and was not flowery.

h2olily --

Since you explored Amazon.com, I assume that you came across a
straightforwardly named CD by Susan Graham called "La Belle Époque
(The Songs of Reynaldo Hahn)," but here is a link to Amazon's listing
just in case you didn't:

Amazon.com: "La Belle Époque"

This stage show, "Chansons tragiques de la Belle Epoque," sounds like
just the thing, but I cannot find a recording of it:

I did see that, but that one is not it, thanks.

Ooops, my comment was to Markga, thanks again. Pinkfreud, that must be
it! But cannot find a recording. I remember it was one of the smaller
classical/opera labels (like Nimbus) and have been going through all
the online catalogues I can find, so far nothing.
