I am looking for the meaning of the expression, "liquid browns" when used in reference to someones eyes. The origin of the expression would be of interest as well, but not necessary. Someone told me the other day that I have liquid browns, only I had no idea what the heck he was talking about. After noticing my dumb expression, he said he was talking about my eyes, and said to think about it. Now I have some idea what it could mean, but I have never heard the expression before, so don't really know. I am assuming he was flirting with me, but who knows..... |

Hi arcookie, I hope you are a dog person! Webster's 1913 Dictionary: Liquid: adj. Clear and shining: the liquid brown eyes of a spaniel. http://www.webster-dictionary.org/definition/liquid The FreeDictionary.com: Liquid: adj: Yielding; lacking any hint of hardness; ... "the liquid brown eyes of a spaniel" Related Word: Soft: ...metaphorically soft; "a soft rain"; ..."soft brown eyes"; "a soft glance" http://www.thefreedictionary.com/liquid There you have it, *soft, clear and shining* - lucky you. I'm sorry I couldn't find when the phrase was first used, but you know it was in use as early as 1913. Your question reminded me of some tips I read many years ago which included advice to pinch your cheeks to produce a natural blush and to put eye drops in your eyes to make them bright and soft (and to remove any redness). If you have any questions, please post a clarification request *before* closing/rating my answer and I'll be happy to reply. Thank you, hummer Google Search Terms Used: "liquid brown eyes" |

Thank you so much for your thorough response. I don't know why I couldn't find this one myself, but I was thrilled to accidentally find out that Google offered this service, and thrilled with the results. Well worth the money paid so that I could get back to work and stop google searching on the job. |

Arcookie, thank you for your nice note, rating, and tip - I appreciate them all. Take care of those eyes of yours (don't stare at the monitor for too long), it sounds as though they are a real asset. Sincerely, hummer |
