Hi,
I would like
1) A list of domain names of top 100 universities, media companies and
fortune 100 companies. For example, for NY Times, give nytimes.com and
for Stanford Univ, stanford.edu.
2) The list should be ordered 1 to 100 and I would like a reference to
the ranking (say a URL to a reliable source or a magazine article).
For the media companies, ranking is by circulation. However, if exact
ranking is not avaiable for media companies, then any reasonable order
is ok.
Thank you.

First, let me humbly suggest that the $10 price you have set on your
question is not commensurate with the amount of time and effort it
would require to answer it, especially considering that there is no
ready-made list of the "top" media companies. If you find that your
question remains unanswered after some time, you may wish to
substantially increase its price in order to attract the attention of
Researchers.

Second, help me understand what you require. You're looking for three
top-100 lists, one for each category of company, correct? Otherwise, I
see no obvious way to combine, say, universities and media companies
into a single ranking.

Yes, I would like three different lists. I am sorry if that was not
clear. They are for different purposes. As for the media companies, if
the exact ranking is unavailable, any reasonable order (I mean, if the
difference between actual rank and the assigned rank for a particular
media company is within 20% it is ok).

I thought that such rankings might be easily available on the web. The
only task which I wasnt sure how to do was to obtain the domain names.
In any case, I will increase the price so as to get enough attention.
Thank you.

Frankly, I'm still not convinced you're in the right price range. I'm
not proposing to answer the question myself, and I don't want you to
feel that anyone is twisting your arm, but let me explain why it would
probably take extraordinary effort to tackle the job.

First, there is the sheer number of links you want assembled. It is
easy to find a listing of the Fortune 100 and of the 100 top-ranked
universities, but to assemble a list of their domain names would
require either (a) laboriously compiling the names by hand, or (b)
writing some kind of custom script to extract the domain-name
information automatically. I'm not sure which method would be easier,
but both would take hours and hours.

And that's not even considering the list of media companies. I am not
aware of any source for such a list, and improvising one would take a
tremendous creative effort. Speaking on my own behalf, it would take
me at least one full day's work, but perhaps two, to answer your
question in its entirety. I'll open the floor for other Researchers to
comment if they so wish.
