I am starting a project where I will be asking people to anonymously
share their secrets with me (and others).  I am looking for
confessions, confidential desires or fears, childhood humiliations,
private betrayals, crimes or regrets - anything that has not been
revealed to someone else.

Before I start, I would like to know about any similar current or past
work.  Specifically, are there any websites, books, message boards,
magazines articles, blogs or email listservs that collect secrets?

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my question.  But I must
say that as your answer stands now, I am disappointed.

I have used this service before and been pleased with the results.  I
have also seen other answers that amazed me in the amount of time,
research and expertise displayed in the answer.  Your answer as it
stands, now lacked all three.  I need to add at this point that
perhaps much of the blame lies with the way I stated the question.  If
you feel this way, I apologize for that and will try to remedy that.

Let me start by explaining why I feel your answer is insufficient and
then try to improve my question.

First, What I am looking for are sources for secrets, I mentioned
seven types of secrets.  You seemed to focus on the most easily found
on the internet - confessions - and ignored the other more challenging
examples I am looking for.

Second, I do not want quantity, I want quality.  You gave me 50 links
to confessional websites.  Two or three I liked.  50 is too many for
me and evidently too many for you to look at.  Some of the links were
dead or took me to sites like shopping cart stories or Back Street Boy
confessions.  Please personally check any URL you forward to me.

Fourth, for $100.00 I expected more than just a google search.  I
asked for sources found in magazines, blogs, message boards etc.  I
expected at least a competent literature search of magazine articles.

I would like to give you an outstanding rating and full payment but it
will take more work - from both of us.  I will now try to give you a
better idea of the kind of secrets I am interested in.

I do not want sources that contain mostly sex stories or humorus
stories.  I prefer short secrets not long rambling confessions.  The
following examples all came from two sites you suggested - Group Hugs
and The Confession Project.

I stalk my classmates with google and anonymous proxies.

I make up stories about my past to make people feel sorry for me and
think that I'm a strong and admirable person.

I am scared of tall strong black people and gangster look brown
people, somehow. I wonder why. I am an average 19 years old Chinese
male.

I pretend I care about my family, because I am supposed to, but really I don't.

Im a guy and I used to hate it when people hear me pee so I started
sitting on the toilet to piss and now its a habit even when no one is
around.

im dead inside 

I collect pictures of unicorns and rainbows and I'm a straight guy. 

i am tired of helping people. i want people to take care of me. 

i'm happy that my girlfriend is moving away 

I'm not sure if I love my parents. 

I do not know what your reaction to this message will be but if you
need me to further clarify any part of my request before you invest
any more time please let me know.  I will be happy to give you

After searching extensively for more sources for "collected secret"
(and numerous related searches) I have been unable to find more than
the 54 sources I have mentioned thus far. I loctaed a variety of
sources where the authenticity was either questionable or outright
fictional and rejected those straighaway. Others turned out to be
primarily related to sexual behaviors and the like, which you say is
not befitting your criteria.

While I believe the 54 sources I "was" able to locate for you over
time is unquestionably (and realistically) significant, it
unfortunatly appears that I have exhausted my resources for finding
more, if, in fact, there are any more.

decide which are real and which are simply fabrications (if that

In the past, I have been amazed at some of the great answers I have
seen at Google Answers.  I have had two positive experiences myself. 
But my recent attempt was well below my expectations.

I offered $100.00 because I wanted a full examination of sources where
secrets are collected.  I asked for books, a literature search,
message boards and websites.  I believe the researcher had no special
expertise in this area and simply offered a quick google key word
search because of the $100.00.

When I recieved his first answer - a poorly screened list of website -
I found that some of them were broken and others were not useful. I
gave a detailed and fair clarification.  (Please see that for more
information.)  His response was to tell me to wait while he did
further research....days later he gave me a few more websites.  At the
very least I needed the results of a literature search.

I will use Google Answers again, but I will not offer $100.00.  I
expected a timely and solid answer from someone who had a interest or
understanding in what was required but I think I just caught the first
person who saw the large dollar amount.
