I have a metal bathtub that I would like to resurface. Any suggestions as to how to prepare the surface for covering and secondly the proceedure for resurfacing with a scratch resustant, stain resistant material. Or should I just chuck it(it's in the third floor of a DC Condo) start with a new tub. I don't want to spend the entire fall '04 getting this project accomplished. |

Since no one has dived into your tub quandary.......... Just been through the process myself. There are professional recoaters who do a reasonable job in situ, but the surface cannot compare with the original stove enamelling in terms of scratch and wear resistance. Stovers can be found but you are talking lots of bucks and you will be a bit smelly by the time it gets back to you. I gave up, bought a plastic one and reluctantly reincarnated the tub as an animal watering hole. BTW, best way to get it down to ground level is in bits. Have a smashing time, har har. Best |

Some of the old stuff is great but repair considerations have not been a priority in our throw-away society......thanks for the response I didn't want to hear because the break up and removal will be thunderous at best. |
