I would like to find the name of a movie I saw on TV when I was a kid.
Probably late 60's or 70's. It was a black and white movie. I don't
remember too much and have researched it extensively myself online and
haven't come up with anything. It's about a young English boy whose
cousin comes to live with him. If I remember correctly one of them was
evil and the other was good, however, the evil one gets everything
blamed on the good one. Bad things start to happen including
the boy's cat goes missing and he eventually finds it dead and stuffed in a
cupboard. Really haunting movie. I'd love to figure this out so
maybe I could finally stop having nightmares :) Thanks for any help
you can give me.

This sounds really like the "Good Son", but this one has been done in
the 1990s, not in the 1960s/1970s.

Yeah, it's kinda got the feel to it that Good Son has. I wish I could
remember more details :( It was old.. black and white.. and the
actors were British. I'll never forget how totally freaked out I was
when that poor little boy found his kitty in the cupboard :( Thanks
for trying though :D

I'm not sure this is it but it sort of reminded me of "The Omen" from
1976 with Gregory Peck, see below:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0075005/

The boy in the movie does many evil things and nobody suspects him at first.

Nope, not the Omen either but again... the similiar feel. I think
this one would be much older than the Omen... I think the boys were
even wearing short pants instead of slacks and like I said it's in
black and white. I saw it on TV and have the impression for some
reason that it was just a TV movie not something that was in the
theatres but then, I don't know for sure :D Thanks for your thoughts
:)

There is a description of "The House" at the link below. It doesn't
seem to fit marlee's description.

Hmm.. I read what I could on "The House" and it's not ringing any
bells. Of course like I said I don't have a lot to go on. I will
keep reading stuff about this movie and see if I come up with
anything. What about it makes you think it's the one I'm looking for?
Thanks so much for the help all... it's been so long that I've been
trying to find this... :D

This doesn't fit on several counts, but it sounds very similar to The
Other, which was a theatrical release based on a Thomas Tryon novel.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069050/maindetails

As far as differences: The main characters in this movie are twin
brothers rather than cousins, it's set in the US, and it's in color.
There is an incident with a cat, although it isn't stuffed in the
cupboard. Despite all the differences, your description rung true on
the nightmare thing. My uncle took me to a drive in to see this when
it came out, and I have literally had nightmares about it since then.
Yes, since about 1972.

There was a TV version made, although there's no mention on IMDB's
pages of any major plot changes. But it may be worth looking at. If
nothing else, you could add to your nightmare repetoire.

I'm just being a pain here :) Actually I own that movie and it was my
first attempt at finding this one. I did an extensive search and I
think I found that on Ebay and purchased it. Although by reading the
info it did sound similiar... however, it's not the same movie. The
boys I'm almost positive weren't brothers. The one boy lived with
relatives (don't remember if they were his parents or not) and the
other boy (I'm assuming cousin) came to visit/live with him. The part
about the cat in the cupboard is the largest part I remember. And,
yes.. this did add to my nightmares :) I can't stand any kind of
movies now with evil kids or dolls lol. The good thing about posting
here about it is that I'm remembering more bits and pieces. Thank you
all!!! If we actually get it I'm gonna start handing out lollypops
lol :)
