My computer has recently been bombarded by popups... even though I have TWO popup blockers! (One: AdWatch, the other is the Dogpile toolbar.) I recently also cleaned my computer of virisus (got a new McAfee virus checker) but I think maybe some settings have been changed to allow popups. Any ideas? |

Use Netscape. I use Netscape 7 extensively, even at work. It has tabbed browsing and I have *NEVER* had a popup. Neither have I had activeX drive-by downloads "Would you like to install ...." Also make sure you're not running Gator or other Gain-supported software such as "Date Manager" or "Precision Time", which pops up a message based upon your web browsign habits. (Add/Remove programs). Likewise make sure you aren't running "Search" toolbars, especially "WhenU" and other "savings" toolbars. As other people have said, you should run a spyware utility such as http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ (AdAware) to make sure your system is clean. If you like Gator, but don't want the popups, I use AI Roboform to store my passwords. The version 6.0.7 finally resolved an issue with the Netscape adapter that caused instability, and I'm very pleased with how it works. Yes, the registered version costs, but I believe it is worth the purchase, especially since I carry my passwords on a USB key... everywhere. |

If you like to use Internet Explorer, try the popup blocker at http://companion.yahoo.com/ Take care, dslntzr |
