Question ID: 402969
How can I get my money back for a mouse that I bought a year ago?
I can't return it to radio shack, and I don't want to sell it on ebay
because no one will buy it and if they do it will be for a very small
amount. The item is not even listed on Amazon.com. The Mouse is in
perfect condition and in its original packaging, with cd and
installation etc. They are STILL selling it at radio shack, (where I
bought it) for 25 dollars, so I would like to know if there is any way
that i can get that $25 bucks so that I don't have to throw it to
goodwill. Radioshack won't take it back -I already asked.
here is the item:

You know as a consumer that people generally enjoy purchasing their
brand-new products from a well known establishment. Most of these
consumers ask themselves (after seeing your item) why they shouldn't
just go to Radio Shack and pick up the mouse with those batteries
they?ve been meaning to pick up as well.

As you indicated in your question, the mouse, while still perfectly
packaged, still retains its age of one year. At Radio Shack, people
understand that their item was probably produced within the last 6
months.

Unless you want to trick an un-informed consumer into buying the mouse
at the retail price, I *would* suggest using an online auction site
such as EBay.

After looking at the list of mice on the site, though, I see what you
mean when you think no one will pay for it. If I were in your
position, I *would* list the item at a reduced price (maybe by the
five dollars you're using here). It might be a good idea as well to
offer free shipping. Make it a point to mention that the mouse is
still being sold (retail) at a higher price and that your item is
factory sealed.

There are inevitably others with better ideas, but I hope my ideas can
at least give you another path of direction.

Donate it to a school or charity and claim it on your taxes. That's
the only foolproof way I know to get the money back if Radioshack
doesn't want it.

You should check with a University/College and their bulletin board postings:
1.) Check if you are allowed to post an ad
(I think only students are allowed to post, however you can always post nearby)

2.) See what kind of ads are being posted.

Considering how much an optical mouse sells for these days, $15-20 seems like a
good price.
