I have an outdoor kerosene tank with a 275 gallon capacity. I would
like to find a chart that converts inches measured with a stick to
amount of gallons in the tank. I know they use these to measure
underground gas tanks. |

Howdy jessie2000-ga,
Is the tank a cylinder (like a pop can) or some other shape, such as a
sausage shape, like a propane tank, and is it upright (like a pop can
when you are drinking from it) or on it's side?
What are the dimensions of the tank? Researchers would need (at minimum)
the height (if standing upright) or length (if flat) and (if a cylinder)
the radius or diameter or circumference of the circular part. Thanks!

Hi,
Sorry for the delay on your request for clarification, this is the
first time I tried using Google answers.
The tank is oval shaped and stands on 4 attached legs. The tank itself measures:
Width, 5 feet
Height, 44 and 1 half inches
Depth, 27 inches
Thank You
John

Howdy John,
Not a problem, and I greatly appreciate your patience with this.
Just so we are on the same page, please go to the following web page and tell
me if the tank (the material is possibly different and it might be sideways,
but that doesn't matter) is the same general shape as yours. Thanks!

Hi,
Yes it is the same approximate shape. The only difference is that it is
standing up and as you face it it is 5 feet wide and 27 inches front
to back (at the widest point)and 44 and 1 half inches high @ the
widest point.
Thank You for your fast responses
