Cherrie,

I could check that out for you, if I knew where you live (which
town/zipcode), and whether you have cables (and which one, if you do).

I could check out if you could buy it on DVD if you told me which zone
you belong to, or what kind of zones you could watch.

So,
- Could you please tell me where you live (country? state/province?
city? zipcode? not more than that - I don't intend to visit ;-)
- Could you please tell me - if you know - which system (zone) of DVD you need?

I live in Huntsville, Alabama. I have access to both Comcast
(35806)and Knowledge(35810) cable. Zipcodes are in( )s. As for DVD
zone do not know.

This is no help as far as securing a DVD copy, but here's what I was
able to find for you.

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) airs The Spanish Main, but their schedule
is searchable three months in advance and it is not listed. TCM does,
however, have a viewable trailer of The Spanish Main here:
http://turnerclassicmovies.com/Multimedia/Popup/0,,8744,00.html

It doesn't look like The Spanish Main has been released on DVD or VHS,
but it has apparently be released on Laserdisc.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0038108/

An online Laserdisc dealer called Lez Arts has a copy; here is their
inventory listing for it:
SPANISH MAIN (P,DG) AD 1438-164076 39.95 1
(From: http://www.lenzarts.com/laserdiscs/s.html)

They are located in Santa Cruz, CA. Here is their contact information:

Address
142 River Street
Santa Cruz, California 95060

Hours
Monday - Friday: 9:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. (Pacific Time)
Saturday: 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. (Pacific Time)

Phone Numbers
Sales/Information: (831) 423-1935
Frameshop: (831) 425-7111
Office: (831) 426-6823
Fax: (831) 423-6840

If you decide to contact them, make sure you have their inventory
number (AD 1438-164076) ready and double check with them to make sure
it is the same movie.

It looks like laserdisc would be your best bet for securing a copy of
the film. Laserdisc players can be picked up fairly cheaply, as most
people have ditched them in favor of DVD.

One last thing you could try: The Spanish Main was produced by RKO
Radio Pictures, a company that still exists today. They have offices
in L.A. and New York. It is possible that they could offer some
assistance.

I hope this helps!
