================================================================= WARNING: Contains language that may be offensive to some readers. ================================================================= About 1987-88 I had a bootleg cassette recording of a comedian, but didn't know his name. Someone once told me it was Lewis Grizzard. Some of the material went like this: "Never let your woman read Cosmopolitan. It's 295 pages long and 294 of them are why she shouldn't f**k you." "...bought her a vibrator. Man, that thing was nice. Hundred an' ninety-five dollars was the first payment." "Camaro is an Indian word for [it's a gas guzzler]" "The first thing to go [bad] on a LeCar...LeBrakes" These folks want to find the same guy: http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=3814b198.20463772%40nntp.cntfl.com&output=gplain http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=XCPA8.33011%24gd5.12609354%40typhoon.southeast.rr.com&output=gplain Can you tell me the comedian's name? Thanks in advance, -preferred customer |

Hello. I believe that you're thinking of Jay Hickman. In one of the links that you provided, another person remembers this routine: '... He bought a huge boat and convinced women to go out with him. Once out in the middle of the ocean, he would pull the key out and say "put out or swim".' http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=XCPA8.33011%24gd5.12609354%40typhoon.southeast.rr.com&output=gplain Listen to the audio sample for Jay Hickman's "Boat Ride." The link is toward the bottom of this Yahoo shopping page: http://shopping.yahoo.com/p:Boat%20Ride:1921218007 Also, Jay Hickman had a routine called "Don't Let Her Read Cosmopolitan," which is obviously a title consistent with the joke on your tape. http://www.comedyhome.com/Shopping/index.cfm?fa=shoppingItem&category=JHickman&webItemID=1252 Hickman reportedly died of liver disease some years ago. See this message archived by Google Groups: http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&c2coff=1&selm=6kt3ob%24ba5%241%40chile.it.earthlink.net ------ search strategy: "put * or swim" "jay hickman" cosmopolitan Thanks! |
