I need a list of at least ten tips to help ensure that new employees
are successful in their new role. Ideally, these tips will be
directly related to computers and to how the new employee can be most
effective.

To earn the base $25, each tip should read like this example:
1. Make sure the new employee has a computer.

To earn a $10 tip, each tip should have two parts: the tip itself,
followed by a BRIEF explanation of the tip. For example:
1. Make sure the new hire has a computer. This will make sure that
they can access all the information they need.

To earn an additional $5 tip, include your search strategy.

I'm not sure if your comment was meant to be serious or not, but
perhaps I wasn't clear enough in my question, so I will attempt to
clarify it. An appropriate 'tip' would be:
1. Determine what email application the new hire is familiar with.
If s/he is not familiar with your specific application, provide some
simple training.

Thanks!

This is a good list. I was looking more for stuff directly related to
computers, though. Are you able to find anything more closely
related? As I read through the list, I saw a couple that I could
reasonably slant that way, but if there was a ready-made list, it'd be
great.

Thanks for your help!

Hello nls_research-ga,

Here?s a new employee checklist from Vanderbilt University that?s very
comprehensive. The sections on computer and telephone setup are
especially relevant to your question. Will this meet your needs?

The more you can say about your situation, the more likely I can get
you what you need.

Good luck.

Looks good - by combining the two lists, I should be able to come up
with what I need. Thanks for all your help! Please be sure to
indicate the search strategy.

Hello nls_research-ga,

Thank you for your clarification and modification to your original
question. I have found a lot of resources to help you with setting up
a new employee orientation program that will enhance the new hire?s
ability to be productive quickly. As you requested, I concentrated on
finding tips and guides for helping the new hire with their computer
and technology needs.

I found that many organizations have developed excellent new employee
orientation procedures and checklists that you should be able to adapt
to your needs. I found some large organizations that have set up
dedicated Web sites for employee orientation and computer support. You
may want to implement an online orientation package yourself.

In addition, I?ve also gathered some resources that give you lots of
employee orientations tips where computer support is just one of the
topics covered. You can extract what you need from these.

Finally, I found a very interesting article that alerts you to the
need to train new employees about the proper use of internal company
information to prevent unauthorized computer access.

As you requested and as standard Google Answers policy requires, I?ve
included my search strategy. I started by using your terminology,
i.e., ?ensuring the success of new hires? and then I substituted other
words and phrases that I thought might yield better results. I
substituted ?new employee? for ?new hire?. In addition to looking for
new hire ?computers? I also looked for ?technology? ?IT? and ?new hire
training? in various combinations.

I trust this information will meet your needs. Please don?t hesitate
to ask for clarification if any of this is not clear.

Best wishes for your project.

Make sure that YOU know how Google Answers works, neither of the
comments was made by a GA Researcher, whose names are always
underlined.

nls_research, just thought I'd confirm boyo62's observation that no
actual GA researcher has yet responded to your question. Commenters
who are not researchers may respond, but their names do not appear in
blue and underlined as hot links. That's how you can tell. I think
those were just-for-fun replies.
