How much toxic waste and other pollutants are produced when making digital
pictures as opposed to using film?

The only toxic waste that would be produced by taking a digital
picture would be in the form of the expended raw energy product that
was used (coal, gas, nuclear) to produce electricity at the power
plant that provides service to the owner of the camera when he or she
plugs the camera into a charger.

If the camera uses disposable batteries, then the waste would be in
the form of the by-products that are produced during the battery
manufacturing and disposal process.
