I'm trying to determine the nature of the changes being made to
Chicago's Zoning Ordinance. The new ordinance is expected to take
effect nov.1, 2004. My focus is determining what types of resisdential
buildings will be allowed in the various new zoning districts. So I
need to know what the requirements of the new districts will be and,
if available their locations. Ideally, you could link me to the new
ordinance if you can find it on the web, but I don't think it has been
postedin its entirety. Here's a little background on zoning:
The size and number of units in a building can be effected by things
such as F.A.R. (floor area ratio - ratio of total square footage of a
building relative to the total square footage of the lot), the amount
of lot area required for each dwelling unit, front, side and rear
yards, number of parking spaces required per unit, the amount green
space required on the lot.
The more comprehensive the information, the bigger the tip will be.
I'm happy to give the max tip if i get the text of the ordinance or
the map that goes along with it.
thanks,
Kevin

I located the new ordinance at the City of Chicago - Office of the Mayor
website.

On May 26, the City Council passed the revised ordinance. It will go
into effect November 1, 2004.

The 17 chapters of the revised zoning code are available for download here:

hi,
were you able to find anything about the map component of the
ordinance? Previously, the ordinance contained a map which showed what
any given area was zoned. None of these links contain the map.
thanks!!

This interactive mapping website allows users to determine the zoning
classification for any area of the City.
To begin a search for zoning information, click the map of Chicago
