I am trying to decide if to use e-learning to replace the first hour
of a multi hour training workshop I do.

Can anyone point me at examples or case studies where e-learning has
proven to be really effective in teaching people soft skills? My soft
skills I mean things like time management strategies or new way to
think about information. Not stuff like how to use the x y z widget
tool in Microsoft word.

Iv never seen any compelling interactive multimedia for the kind of
this, just training soft for software, so my guess is it would be a
waste of time and I should just continue to present the material in
person using a PowerPoint slide show. But I might be rushing to
judgment just because I haven?t used any effective e-learning tools in
my past.

I don't need a lot for example, just a few, maybe 1 or 2 I can try out
or sample online.

If we did create one, our budget wouldn't be big, so some complicated
thing that took a programmer 10 days to do would not be a good
example. Maybe something less then that, something done in director
or exported from PowerPoint with a voice over and some short video
clips, or something doable on a more reasonable budget.

thanx in advnce

We have used Macromedia Captivate (formerly Robodemo) to create demos
of our products online (
http://www.businesscase.com/html/proforma-demo.html ) . It can also
be used to create introductions to training. I am working on that
application right now. It is fun and easy to use. A free 30-day
trial is offered, so the price is right. Hope this helps!
