Have you tried to decompress scanModem.gz using the gunzip command?

I am unfamiliar with installing Mandrake and had thought that I had
installed all the modules because on reselecting the modules I was
informed that all were already installed "should this really happen"
or something! I am trying to install it on a machine with no other OS
present.

I think the problem is that all the help packages presume more
knowledge than I have. Am I really obliged to work from the command
window in order to use the programmes?
(I am trying to check the internal modem to find the driver which is
not on the CD of installation)

My machine is an early Pentium with 64MB of memory. Thanks! mar100-ga

I'd like to help you, but it's not clear to me what exactly you want
to know. Can you ask one specific question or name a particular task
you'd like to accomplish?
