Question ID: 405360
I have just opened a business in Rural Hall NC. One of the many
services we offer is digital surveillance systems. My question is, do
I or my employees have to be certified in any form or fashion by some
type of local or state agency in order to install these systems? We
do not install "alarm systems" Only CCTV units. I hope you guys can
help as none of my local agencies have a clue.

Just a comment for what it is worth.

I am not in NC but most states this would be a low voltage electrical license.

Yes yes I know that there is low low voltage but even just security
systems run on 12 volts and they require the same thing. To power a
security system you do not have to hardwire anything just plug it in
but the license is still required. HOWEVER.... If your town does not
know what you are required to do then I would suggest just to write a
letter of intent via snail mail to the proper people and get the
answer in writing and you should be covered.

Thanks
Steve

I'm not real worried about a license to install (with respect to the
wiring) I'm more concerned about some type of good faith license. I
don't believe that NC has any type of "low voltage" licensing.
