What contract manufacturing companies are capable of producing
transdermal prescription drug patches?
There are a variety of patches that can be produced including
drug-in-adhesive matrix patches, semisolid matrix patches, and
reservoir/membrane patches. For
overview of patch types, see
http://www.3m.com/us/healthcare/manufacturers/dds/jhtml/patch_anatomy.jhtml
and http://www.uspharmacist.com/index.asp?show=article&page=8_1061.htm.
Identify companies capable of producing, as a contract manufacturer,
any of these patch varieties. Please include contact info for each
company. The complete answer should include as many companies as
possible for each variety of patch, but minimally 5-10 companies
capable of producing each variety of patch. It is possible that some
companies can produce more than one variety of transdermal patch. It
is important that companies are capable of producing pharmaceutical
drug products and not just medical devices. Furthermore, companies
should be contract manufacturers ? willing and able to manufacture
transdermal products for another company. Many companies in the
answer should have facilities in the US, but some international firms
are also appreciated.
Some companies I already know of are:
3M Drug Delivery (http://www.3m.com/us/healthcare/manufacturers/dds/jhtml/transdermal_development.jhtml),
Corium (http://www.coriumgroup.com/),
Adhesives Research (http://www.adhesivesresearch.com/),
Mylan Technologies (http://www.mylantech.com/),
Lohmann Therapy Systems (http://www.ltslohmann.de/html/home.htm),
Aveva Drug Delivery Systems (www.avevadds.com),
Novosis (http://www.novosis.com/en/),
One source of companies that may be suitable for this answer is
http://www.iirusa.com/drugdeliverypartnerships/index.cfm/Link=27,
however each company on that list would need to be investigated to
determine suitability.
Examples of companies that are not appropriate for an answer are:
DermaMed (www.dermamed.net) ? inappropriate because they only deal in
medical device patches and some OTC (over-the-counter) patches.
DLE (www.dleinfo.com) ? inappropriate because they do not manufacture drug patches.
Systems Complete (www.syscomplete.com) & Converting Labs
(http://www.convertinglabs.com/medical.html) ? inappropriate because
they manufacture medical device patches, but not drug patches.
If in doubt whether a company is applicable to this question, please
include them on the list of answers. |
