I asked this question a few days ago, but apparently it got lost. My
question is: Have you any information about a site called,
"Songlyrics.com" being a gateway for trojans and spyware/adware?
Everytime I go to this site I seem to pick spyware or some such. Thank
you.

Hi tori5,

Thank you for your question. I performed a search with many keywords:

songlyrics.com spyware malware popups adware trojan virus
songlyrics.com sucks
songlyrics.com problems
songlyrics.com issues
songlyrics.com spam
songlyrics.com hijack

I did find information regarding songlyrics.com at the following 2
sites which mentions songlyrics.com in a negative way.

http://computercops.biz/postitle59966-15-0-.html

"Hi everyone, whenever I go to web sites to look at song lyrics, it
usually says I have a trojan horse in Sector E. and tells me to do my
AVG virus scan. It usually finds it and puts it in the virus vault,
but is there any way I can avoid these sites?"

"One of them was www.songlyrics.com I cant remember the rest of them.
I'll try to find them and then tell you."

On a personal note, I run Ad-Aware SE, Spybot, CWShredder, and
Spywareblaster once a week. Prior to running each program I check
for updates, and I've been very successful in not having any problems
with malware. All programs are freeware and I highly recommend each
one.

(I run them as listed from top to bottom... starting with

I hope this helps.

You said top to bottom but you list bottom to top... By the way the
vessel with the pestle has the pellet that is poison and the flagon
with the dragon has the brew that is true!

Hi tori5,

Please note correction: I run them starting with the last one listed
in my answer(spywareblaster) and finish up with Ad-Aware. This is
just my preference.

Best regards,

this website runs two activex controls, both of which appear to be benign.

i ran a packet snoop once i got into the website and did not see
anything mallicious.

i could not site this web address as a source of spyware.
