I was using Outlook for my old job. When I left, I removed the Exchange server and now every time I open Outlook, it looks for the Exchange server, can't find it and closes down. How can I start using Outlook again without uninstalling and reinstalling MS Office? When I open Outlook, first I receive this message: The connection to the Microsoft Exchange Server is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action. Then I am prompted to enter a name for an Exchange server and a mailbox. Since I don't have one, I then receive this message: Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Unable to open the Outlook window. The set of folders could not be opened. The server is not available. Contact your administrator if this condition persits. I would like to use Outlook for my own business so I can manage my calendar, send emails, etc. Help?? |

I THINK you can go into Start-Settings-Control panel and choose Mail to get into Outlook's settings without opening Outlook itself. Once there, try Tools-Options, Email options, and hit Reconfigure Email Support. Choose "Internet Mail Only" option. You MAY need to go into the control panel and choose Mail and REMOVE the profile that is set up there. If you do that, then get out of the control panel and launch Outlook and, since there's no profile, it may offer to create new folders for you, which is what you need to do. If neither of the above works, then hit Start-Run and type: outlook.exe /unregserver (yes, there's a space before the slash) and hit Enter. Then launch Outlook. Whatever happens, we'll get you there, so if it doesn't work, pay careful attention to what DOES happen, so I can get you where you need to be. Also, Outlook is fairly different from version to version, so you should always state what version. :) |

Not knowing which version of Outlook you have, I recommend creating a new profile. Here are step by step instructions for creating a new profile - this is for Outlook 2002 and 2003: http://www.123together.com/Support/Create_new_profile_outlook_2002_2003.htm |
