Dear 6855b, Checks are most often printed on 20-pound stock. If paper is rated at 20 pounds, it weighs 75.3 grams per square meter. InkJetArt: Weights and Sizes of Papers http://www.inkjetart.com/weight.html A typical check measures 70 millimeters in width and 159 millimeters in length. The area of 1000 such checks is therefore 1000 * 70 mm * 159 mm = 11,130,000 mm^2 or 11.13 square meters. We multiply this number by 75.3 grams to find that 11.13 * 75.3 g = 838.089 g or about 0.838 kg is the mass of 1000 standard bank checks. In imperial units, this is 838.089 / 453.592 = 1.84767 or about 1.85 pounds. Thanks for the interesting question!
