The last I heard AM radio stations (daylight hours only) in the USA can be purchased for far less money than starting from scratch. The purchaser gets the licence. It is likely nesseceary to have a professional offer a bribe, to get an FM station licences or purchase an existing station at an excessive price. If you are thinking a very low power neighborhood station, they were available a few years ago, but I think the FCC has lost interest in approving any recent requests. The electric bill for a 50,000 watt (or more) station will stretch the definition of small bussiness. I think www.fcc.gov will get you the official rules for appling for a licence. Neil |
