Question ID: 406429
On one of my dial-up ISP connections, AT&T Net Client, the connection
software always changes my IE6 browser home page to
www.attbusiness.com which is really annoying. I need to use this
dial-up ISP when I am travelling and I have to use their Net Client
software as the method of connecting rather than configuring a generic
dial-up networking connection. How can I stop it doing this? I am
running a Dell Latitude D800 laptop with Win XP sp2.

Hello dogbreath-ga

I believe there is a simple method of stopping AT&T doing this to your
browser and it depends on which version of the dialer you have. I
will detail both solutions below:

VERSION 4
=========
1) Go to the dialer´s Network View window.
2) Click Network --> Login Properties.
3) Select the Browser tab.
4) Click Override Default Settings.
5) For the Web browser start page item, select either Do Not Update or
Manually Update. If you select "Do Not Update," you must set the
default home page in your Web browser. If you select "Manually
Update," enter the Web site address you wish to use in the field.

VERSION 5
=========
From the main connect screen:
1) Click the down arrow at the top left on the dialer
2) Select Show Login Properties
3) Click Programs tab at the top
4) Click to Override Default Settings (if not already checked)
5) Highlight the browser you are using from the main window
6) Click Settings
7) From the selections available select ´start page´
8) Once highlighted, you can select Automatically Update, Do Not
Update, or Manually Update
9) The values of these selections are as follows:
   a. Automatically - Dialer will set the home page
   b. Do Not Update - Dialer will not set home page, home page will controlled
      by your browser setting
   c. Manually Update - You can specify a start home page and the dialer will
set this as your home page

the more irritating 'features' that AT&T have built in for you:
