In order to install Linux on your Xbox without making any permanent
changes to it, you will have to trick the machine into thinking that
you're playing an ordinary game. In particular, you will need a copy
of the game MechAssault as well as a piece of specialized software
loaded into an Xbox Memory Unit or another Xbox-compatible memory
device such as a USB joystick or digital camera. Step-by-step
