I have emailed a US manufacturer of accordions in the hope of getting nonproprietary information on total U.S. accordion sales in 2003. I will let you know what I find out. markj-ga |

I found the following information pertaining to Question 2: "Accordions are manufactured in many countries. Most production takes place in Italy, Austria, Germany, France, Russia, Czechoslovakia & China. Some small production is from the U.S.A. and other countries, primarily using German or Italian components & assembling them. The number of manufacturers fluctuates all the time. They range from one person hand building an instrument at a time, to cottage industires assembling components, to worker groups (co-operatives), to fullscale factories. At one stage, manufacturers in Germany and Italy were making approximately 750,000 instruments per year." www.accordions.com/index/faq/faq.shtml "'Trick Bothers' of Toledo, Ohio were the last accordion manufacturers to operate in the United States" www.accordion.com/rose infonut7 |
