Hello, I am trying to track down a band called Snakewalk. I saw them
play at the 'Paradise Lounge' club in San Francisco on Thursday 23rd
May 1991. The address of the Paradise club is (was) 11th & Folsom.
Ideally I would like to purchase any records/tapes/CDs etc they
released. Otherwise if you find out that they did not release anything
then that will be OK too. Many thanks.

What was their genre? I may have found some former members of
Snakewalk. One is currently in a band that plays Afro-Cuban, funk and
jazz. Am I on the right track?

Hello - Regarding the band Snakewalk, they played wierd, indie type
music. I remember there being two singers - a woman and a bald white
man. To be honest, they sounded very strange - I think that is the
reason they have stayed in my mind for all these years. It is
difficult therefore to categorise their music - apart from saying it
was strange and eerie and spellbinding. It was based on
guitar/bass/drums, witrh possibly a percussionist as well. They were
very dark in appearance ie a bit alternative/gothic type look. Is this
any help?

May be a fit. I sent an email to the person that may have been in the
band and will let you know.

snakewalk..

Bands, they come and go and, unfortunately, this is one that has gone
and left nothing behind. In digging around, I found one reference to
a member of Snakewalk named Naomi True. In searching for Naomi, I
came across her name associated with other bands, so I took a chance
and sent her an email to see if she was the same. Here is the
response I received:

"No problem, I'm suprised somebody remembers Snakewalk. That's a long time
ago. There was a cassette made but I don't even know if I have one, and I'm
sure that they are not in any stores.I have worked on several projects with
other people one of whom is Matt Calahan from the Looters...I don't know if
you remember them but we had another group for several years after called
The Wild Bouquet. There are cd's available from Matt's website. I'm working
on my own project as well but don't have anything recorded finished as of
yet. Thanks for your interest and hope all is well with you.

Sincerely,

Naomi"

So, it was her and, ufortunately, they did not release any music.

Thanks for your question. I always enjoy researching questions that
involved contacting the prinicples.

Thanks THV - one last request on this - Naomi mentioned she may have a
cassette as one was made - I would love to get a copy of it. Any ideas
on this one? Thanks, Gerry Davis

The chances are slim since she says that SHE doesn't even have a copy.
Her email address is ogfumito@hotmail.com if you would like to
contact her.
