Hi shiragz, Recruitment as a career is the job of helping other people find jobs of their own and finding employees for companies. "Recruitment consultants work with companies to help them find the right people for their positions. They also work for candidates to find a role that is suitable for them. The key skill of a recruitment consultant is to meet the needs of both the client and the candidate to ensure the best mutual fit; this is not simply a case of skills matching but of truly understanding the business and its culture, as well as the aspirations of the candidate." Robert Walters http://www.robertwalters.com/workingforus/ForFutureEmployees.jsp Here's an interesting little excerpt of a "A Day In The Life Of A Recruitment Consultant" "I wasn't sure what I wanted to do when I left university and had a few jobs which I wasn't really happy with. I can remember speaking to a friend and saying that what I wanted to get out of a job was a feeling of satisfaction, the ability to see something through from start to finish as well as having a lot of people interaction. And obviously a good salary would help! I had basically just described what it is like working for a recruitment consultancy. Working on the recruitment desk, everyday I meet and interview a range of interesting people. They are usually really upbeat when they come into the offices and you get a real buzz when you place them in a good role. In between placing jobs, I have built good relationships with Heads of Finance within some of the largest blue-chip companies in the UK and meet them on regular occasions over lunch or at corporate events. The hours are long but the bonuses you get at the end of each quarter counter balance this and you find that before you know it you are on a very good salary indeed. The atmosphere in the office is definitely work hard, play hard and I have met some of my closest friends through work."
