Question ID: 407935
OK, I have been asking around on and off about this movie for awhile.
Today I have searched and searched and then found this website and
maybe someone here can help me.

I think I saw it back in the late 80's, early 90's. The movie was
about a woman in the military (I think she was after a promotion, and
I think airforce or navy, but
not sure about that part), and she had to go through some training, if
I recall, the training was in a remote location, maybe an island,
anyhow........the woman was abused, I think locked in a box, and
raped and it was just horrible training. I could have sworn the actor
was Amy Madigan, but I searched her films and this movie is not there.

I hope someone can help me with this, I have been wanted to see this
again for years but can't recall the name! IT IS NOT GIJANE! (I may
be confusing the plot with GIJANE, but, it is an older movie than
that)

Thanks and kindest regards,
Christine

Hi,

This is just a shot in the dark, but could you be confusing GI Jane
with Amy Madigan's "Nowhere to Hide" (1987)?

"Nowhere to Hide" is not about military training, but Amy Madigan does
play a Rambo-type ex-Marine.

The movie you are looking for is "Opposing Force" (aka Hellcamp),
released around 1986, starring Lisa Eichhorn and Tom Skerrit. IMDB
has a description of it and a trailer you can watch to confirm this.
From the little looking I've done, it seems to be hard to find on
tape, let alone DVD. However, if you, or someone you know gets
Encore, it will be on in the wee hours of the morning 4 times in
October: http://www.tv-now.com/stars/skerritt.html

Actually, "Opposing Force" is available on tape via Amazon.com:

So it is. I told you I didn't look too hard. I saw it wasn't
available new at Amazon, but missed the used listings.
