I would like to know what is the total capacity of the Internet in the US and in the world. There was an article today on CNET mentionning 10 petabytes of data per week represents 15 percent of total U.S. Internet traffic. That means the total internet raffic in the US is about 66petabytes which seems low. So I'm interested to know what's the total bandwidth/capacity of the Internet in the world and in the US (unicast). Please details the sources of your data so I can quote them. Second part of the question is what's the capacity or total bandwidth of the network of an ISP: for example (assuming everything was cached on a big proxy placed inside the network of an ISP) what's the toal of what they would be able to deliver to their end users?(unicast + we assumie they would be able to smooth the traffic ovr 24hours -> there would be no peak problem). |
