This is usually caused by a belt failure, in response to failure to
lace up or drive past the heads. I don?t know the specific model but
if you pull it to bits you?ll likely find a length of rubber which
should be a belt or ring.
Ideally it should be replaced by the correct item but in many
instances a neoprene ?O? ring is often suitable. Replacement can be a
wee bit tricky, just getting the damned things to bits, but never
beyond the skill of a good techy. If screws are posidrive, try not use
a philips ;-)
Failing that, the repair could be expensive and unfortunately it is
now often cheaper to junk than repair -- but it?s usually a cheap
belt.
BTW, if its UK, 'CPC' should be able to supply either exact or generic.
