Will the iPod mini crash less then the normal iPod (the 20 gig one) when jogging? I had an original iPod when they first came out. I tired to use it while running, but no matter how I carried it (backpack, waistband, pocket, in my hand) it would always crash when I ran. I would have to hold down the 2 buttons to do a reset and then it would reboot. it would last 5-20 minutes and eventually crash agaian. I lost my iPod and need to buy a new one. I have 2 questions. #1 Will the iPod mini crash less then the normal iPod (the 20 gig one) when running? #2 Do they make an armband for the normal iPod (like they do for the mini) that is exactly like this one? http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0001AU6XU/002-2001217-0937658?v=glance I need to buy on in the next day or two (or three) so please let me know. thanx in advnce | |

Hi sherpaj, I found this product called the Skin Tight Armband, it looks promising. [1] Product Description: Comfort fit, Velcro adjustable armband Cable clips keep cord out of the way Usage: Insert iPod into skin Place armband around upper arm and tighten velcro strap Snap-in iPod with the skin on Wrap extra cord around ipod and secure with iPod clips However, I don't think there are any armbands or devices that will GUARANTEE your iPod will not crash. To quote Lisa O'Malley[2]: ""A hard-drive player will always be a hard-drive player, it has moving parts and there is still the possibility of it skipping,"" About a wireless remote, I found the naviPod for $41.95 (to be exact), shipping is free (currently) at: URL: http://www.macmall.com/macmall/shop/detail.asp?dpno=236788 References ------------ [1] http://www.speckproducts.com/miniarmband/index.htm [2]http://investor.news.com/Engine?Account=cnet&PageName=NEWSREAD&ID=1148233&Ticker=CREAF&SOURCE=N2299141 Please let me know if you have anymore questions. I'm considering buying an MP3 player for jogging, so I'm curious to find out if you've had problems with the iPod while jogging. I was thinking about buying an iPod Mini until I heard that it wasn't recommended for jogging. |

When owning an iPod, you must make sure to always make sure the firmware (iPod internal software) is current. This will reduce the number of crashes. To download the newest version (3.0.2) go to http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/. Hope this helps! |

sherpaj-ga, In case you haven't heard the news, the iPod shuffle is out: Check it out at: http://www.apple.com/ipodshuffle/ No display, but at least it's flash based and less prone to crashing. |
