Following news of Bill Clinton's need for heart bypass surgery, I
vaguely remember mention in the news that one of the cardiac surgeons
at Columbia Presbyterian  Hospital had earlier required bypass surgery
himself.  If so, who was this surgeon, and does he still perform
bypass surgery or just consult?

I looked and i couldn't find any direct info. But if you are
