When attempting to save ( copy to my PC ) jpegs from the internet they are
saved on my hard drive as BMP Bitmap. Can anybody tell me how to
ensure that jpegs are automatically saved as jpegs and not as bitmap ?
Also, how can I ensure that all other types of fotos are automatically
saved as jpeg too ?

Thanks

What browser are you using? If you are using Internet Explorer, make
sure that when you save the image, the "Save as type:" drop down menu
is on JPG and not BMP. Internet Explorer usually gives you the choice
to save in BMP or whatever format the file is in.

As for making sure that all other images are automatically saved as
jpegs, I don't know that there is any way to do this.

Of course, it should be noted that you could always open a bitmap
image in a photo editing program and resave it as a jpeg.

Maybe one of these MS Knowledge Base articles can help you sort it out.

It looks like the second link angryhippie-ga has provided is the most
likely cause of your problems, assuming you are using Windows and IE.
