Your question is impossible to answer since it lacks the necessary details :

Is company local or multinational??

Is the employee chinese or expat. (as you might now, this makes a
HUDGE difference)

What are the qualifications of the employee and how many years of experience.

In general (and I live in Shanghai, so I know what I am talking
about), I would pay a fresh from college (with mba)local person about
5000rmb a month (=500 euros) net. If you want to pay hem well, give
max 8000rmb.

You're quite generous, Filiph-ga!

Apart from where somebody is located, it might also vary from industry
to industry. In my experience the base would be lower, but with quite
a generous commission.

Fons (also from Shanghai)

Since cntrlnjguy isn't clarifying his own question, I will on his behalf :)

I believe he gave all the information needed for an informed person to
answer, he said "average" which is to include both local and
multinational, both chinese and expat., all qualification levels and
years of experience, all locations, all industries, and all of any
other variables.... hence the word average.

I hope that helps draw you a good answer cntrlnjguy.

This site looks like the only reputable source with quality info, and
they claim to offer free surveys until December but you'll have to
give them your credit card number so they can charge you $400+ if you
forget to cancel the service by then.
