I have a trophy from my departed grandfather; I'd like to learn more about it.

The trophy is engraved with the following (showing each line):

Presented By
Trott's Book Store
Junction City Kan.
Bending Race
won by
Capt. ** my grandfather's name **

He was a captain in army at the time, around WWI, I'd suppose.

A bending race is a slalom-style competition with riders on horses
(ponies) running a zig-zag course around "bending poles". You can see
a description of it here:

Of Trott's Book Store, I have thus far found nothing, I'm afraid.

What sort of additional information were you hoping for?

Yes, this is helpful.

I'm going to guess there was an army base near Junction City, Kansas
at the time. Why a bookstore sponsor?
