Question ID: 409679
I am giving a presentation to a group of corporate travel executives
(people who work for large companies and coordinate travel for their
staff -- everything from booking flights and hotels to developing
travel policy to managing "fleets" of PDAs). I am looking for a list
of new (last two years) technology advancements and developments in
their field. For instance:

-- What technology exists that can reduce the need or cost of business travel?
-- Are there any services/tools to help them manage a "fleet" of PDAs
(i.e. mass-erase of confidential data, or PDA software that
automatically keeps their travel plans in one place)
-- What options exist for non-travel meetings (i.e. WebEx, etc.): Costs, pros/cons
-- Are there any danger areas lurking?
-- How has the web changed corporate travel?

I'm particularly interested in trends, forecasts, and anything that
can give them a sense of "where it's going."

It's very important that the examples you find have a "wow" factor.
For instance, everyone knows that having a meeting over the web is
cheaper, so there won't be a "wow" factor there. But if one service in
particular can do it over a cell phone and show images of participants
on the screen, that's a winner.

As I'll be developing this as a PowerPoint presentation, it's
important that your results are organized well.

I will be available immediately throughout today (Sunday) to respond
quickly to any clarification questions you may have.

Hi again sorry about the previous clarification, I pushed the wrong button.

In the second question you said:

"Are there any services/tools to help them manage a "fleet" of PDAs
(i.e. mass-erase of confidential data, or PDA software that
automatically keeps their travel plans in one place)"

- Will this also include ordinary software that can be used in
laptops? Plus what do you mean managing a fleet of PDAs?

- Do you mean synnchronization between business partners or employees?

Thanks!

Good morning Easterangel,

In response to your request for clarification:

 > Will this also include ordinary software that can be used in
 > laptops? Plus what do you mean managing a fleet of PDAs?

I'm really only thinking about PDAs (Pocket PCs and Palms) here. By
"fleet" I mean that corporate travel managers are increasingly being
asked to manage the PDAs a company owns -- most of them, of course, in
the hands of their employees. PDAs can be very useful travel tools --
I'd want to know what some of those enterprise-level tools are, and
what options administrators have to manage them.

- Do you mean synnchronization between business partners or employees?

Nope, I'm happy to keep the focus of this research clear -- just how
technology is impacting corporate travel managers. Trends, forecasts,
and emerging technologies with a wow factor.

I'd love to get this answered -- is it too much? I'm open to reducing
the scope if it'll help...

Hi jhabley-ga!

Actually it isn't so much the scope but the availability of material
that can zero in some of your requirements. Another matter that
complicates the question is the "wow factor" since obviously it is
subjective and I haven't found anything worthy of such a description.

Maybe another researcher can find something so I am opening this up to others.

Thanks!
